Scammers will find many ways to take your money. Busy cities like Barcelona are the perfect places for scammers to make a living.
Fake cannabis clubs are easy to spot
If you’re walking down the street and come across a ‘promoter’ trying to get you into a club with a special offer, you’d better avoid it because you’re likely to run into a scammer.
Why? The answer is simple, real clubs are both prohibited and do not need to employ street promoters.
In Spain, a private cannabis club cannot engage in direct marketing activities, put up posters all over the city and, of course, employ promoters. Breaking the law would jeopardise their licence to operate. The responsible clubs would not risk this under any circumstances. If you have experienced this, you have either encountered irresponsibility or fraud. Neither sounds good…
What is a fake cannabis club like?
You could say it’s nothing special. Scammers are just trying to make money. That’s why they try to get cash up front to get you into a club. They may do this at the entrance of a known place, a nightclub or a private building. As many stories as there are tourists who have been scammed…

Look online for basic information about clubs, their availability and, in some cases, a range of independent opinions. There are ranking websites and comparison sites. I have written about my experiences on this site. It is a good starting point for you. 🙂
